Rosa Gems

Some things just have to be documented,
if for no other reason than to amuse me.
Also, I'm getting old and there is a chance I might not remember this tomorrow.
And that would be a crime.

Tonight, after she ran out of the bedroom mid-lullaby to get a straw for her water:
Thank you, self!

This afternoon while watching our neighbor, Nick, bring in the trash cans:
Now, that's a good man!

Homecoming Queen

During parent/teacher conferences, Emmy's teacher
told me that she thinks Emmy will
be Homecoming Queen in high school.
Then she made me promise to send her pictures.

I think this is the face she will make when they call her name.

Whhhaaaa?  I thought I was at football try-outs...

A Future In Interior Design?

Emmy loves to arrange things.
She asks to watch House Hunters International on Saturday mornings.
She often tells us how she would like to move again, because it's fun!
(much to Drew's horror)

When we were spring cleaning the other day I let her decorate the hutch with anything she could find.
She was so proud.

One of her items was not as cooperative as the others.

That's my girl.

The Future, by Rosa

While helping me cook dinner...

Rosa:  Mommy, when I grow up I want to be a garlic-peeler.
No, I want to be a garlic-peeler mommy.
Then we will have one garlic-peeler mommy, one regular mommy,
one daddy and a fireman (Emmy?).

Some days I just cook for the entertainment.
Also, I never have to peel garlic anymore.  Win.

Super Bowl Favorites

Favorite quote

Rosa -  Wow.  Thank you for this cheese.
(said while consuming an entire giant soft pretzel and cheese dip - Drew's fave party snack)

She is now passed out from said cheese.

Favorite Dance Moves

Emmy, standing right in front of the tv and mimicking, with precision, the ref calls (and moves).
False start!  Offense.

So far I vote for my children, the Doritos ads and Beyoncé as the best part of the game.

Dinner Conversation

(Homework time.  Yes, I generously give homework time to Drew.  No one likes homework more than Drew.  Except maybe Emmy.)

Talking about the upcoming Christmas program at preschool:

Drew:  Can you sing me a song, Emmy?
Emmy: (mulling it over...)
Drew:  Will you please sing me the "Jesus in the Forest" song?  Please?
(Drew begins to sing)  Jesus was walking in the forest, looking for a snack and then he met a bear - rarr rarr rarr!
Emmy:  Umm...Daddy, I don't think the song goes the way you think it goes.
